Product Description
This water-free solution contains 1% pure Retinol, an ingredient that can reduce the appearances of fine lines, of photo damage and of general skin ageing.
While Retinol has been studied extensively, it is irritating to the skin and newer technologies exist that mimic the visible effects of Retinol without causing skin irritation.
For this reason, we generally recommend using Granactive Retinoid 2% or Granactive Retinoid 5% instead of this formula.
Water-free, alcohol-free, nut-free, vegan, gluten-free.

Directions
Apply a small amount to face in the PM as part of your skincare regimen, after water serums but before heavier treatments.
Do not use with other retinoid treatments. Avoid unprotected solar exposure. Store in a cool, dry place.

Wasn’t for me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a good serum , just not for me. I could’ve have used it with an ingredient it didn’t agree with however I was scared to try again. I did give it to my mom and she raves about it so that’s why I wouldn’t give up hope. She mentioned her face looked and felt more bouncier and gooey after incorporating it into her routine. Must have!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do recommend this product! I use it regularly at night more than the morning. It’s good to ease into retinol serums in my opinion, so that’s what I would suggest. And don’t forget the sunscreen in the morning!! It’s important! Gifted by the ordinary.

Ordinary retinol 1% in aqua lanes
I’ve been using many skin care products by The Ordinary for some time now. I know my skin, what works and what doesn’t. I’ve learned that “following directions” is the best way to get the optimal results. It’s why I chuckle when I see people (influencers?.. you aren’t influencing me if you aren’t using products properly btw) say you didn’t see results after using retinol for a week to a month. It can take up to 6 months DEPENDING on your body/skin to see effective results. However, because we look in the mirror everyday, it’s hard to notice little changes that others who may not see us as often, might see right away. Therefore, using a low strength retinol as directed, building up a tolerance, then eventually moving up in strength is the best way to see favourable results. I have been patient and done exactly that. I am on .5% retinol in the day, and 1% retinol at night. I skip every 3rd day completely and hydrate like crazy. I have seen a complete reversal in..

I used to use retinol with Vitamin C and it was too harsh on my skin. I switched to using just retinol and gave up some of the benefits for less side effects. It has worked better for me. Now that I have been on the 2 strengths of retinol for the past few weeks, I have noticed the small line between my eyes has disappeared completely. Thank you! Whew! I can’t wait to look 33 again. (kidding I’m mid 50’s, I’ll take 40) Ha!

Can this be used under the eyes? Also for people who usually buy this, do you know how long it usually takes to be restocked?
No I wouldn’t use around the eyes. Says not to on bottle. Not sure when it’s restocked
